What’s the best part about being a grower?
The lifestyle and being your own boss. What comes out from the farm is a huge reflection of the time and effort you’ve put into it, which is constant. It’s round the clock, 7 days a week. So you have to understand that this is a way of life and you need to have a real commitment and love for this lifestyle to be good at what you do. Being my own boss also means I have control of what happens to the farm, and it’s great to see your hard work translate in front of you.

Why do you grow what you grow?
It just what I grew up with really. I’m a 3rd generation grower, so it’s always been what I was surrounded by and you learn a lot even from an early age, so you’ve gained a lot of knowledge and expertise growing a specific fruit. And so, when you’ve had all that direct exposure and years of expertise put on you, it just felt right to continue in the citrus growing business.

Are you hoping to pass on the farm to your kids/grandkids
Yes, I’d definitely like to see this passed onto the 4th generation (when I have children, I’m only 31, plenty of time!). That’d be something I’d be proud to see, and also the family would be happy too .

What has been your proudest achievement in your farming career?
Being able to farm with my father
